Beautiful Dartington Hall, Devon Candid Wedding Videography

August 4, 2017

Stephanie and Rob were the first couple to book me that I didn't already know.  My first enquiry as a professional wedding videographer.  I remember the drive over to their house one evening after my day job, I couldn't decide if I was nervous or excited.  All sorts of questions going through my head; What will they want from me?  What if they don't like me?  How much do I charge?

But it was fine.  They were lovely and we just hit it off.  I knew within the first 10 seconds that we would get a long and soon Stephanie and I were talking all things wedding and getting excited about the day.

I think it's fair to say, and I don't think he'll disagree, but Rob seemed a bit apprehensive at the thought of having a wedding video.  He, like a lot of us, (including me by the way!) are not keen on the idea of being centre of attention with cameras shoved in our faces.  I reassured him that my style was to stay out of the way and that I aim for them to barely notice I'm there - which by the way I achieved during the ceremony because an engaged couple at Steph & Robs wedding actually booked me for their wedding (Jayne & Dan's Sidmouth Harbour Hotel wedding this August) because they "didn't even see me while I was filming the ceremony"

Rob and Stephanie's wedding was to be at the stunning Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon.  As I was just starting out in the wedding industry, I had no idea of the beauty and history of the venue.  Dartington Hall is a fairy tale of an English country estate on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon.  The sun was shining which was perfect for the out door ceremony in the stunning courtyard with a canopy of branches framing the ceremony area.  The gardens are beautiful and well maintained with colour all year round.  The great hall is a dramatic room for speeches and the wedding breakfast and the acoustics are brilliant for live music.

I made Stephanie & Rob a two short videos to their chosen song, edited the full ceremony, speeches and first dance and created a DVD with all their videos on.

Below are some stills from video footage I captured on the day and right at the bottom, is one of the short videos (my very first!)
