When I filmed Natalie’s sisters (Stephanie) wedding last September at the historic Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon. The family were so pleased with my work that they booked me for Natalie’s wedding at the beautiful East Soar Farm, South Hams, Devon this May. Best compliment, right?
Having got to know the Sentons’ at Stephanie and Robs wedding in September, I was thrilled to be involved in another one of their family bashes. They were a joy to shot, so friendly and welcoming that I immediately felt part of the gang.
Natalie and Jon's wedding was a fabulous, fun and colour filled affair. From fuchsia pink bridesmaids to giant helium filled balloons, yellow and pink roses in the bouquet to Jon's dads old records splashed with brightly coloured paint as table numbers. It was a feast for the eyes and they were relaxed and enjoying every moment.
The family had spent the night before dressing the barn for the wedding breakfast with hanging paper lanterns of different sizes and colours. The end result was spectacular, it looked like they were floating on air!
The ceremony was in the cosy Swans Nest barn at the farm, with its low ceiling, wooden beams and fairy light wall, it made for some dramatic but intimate shots.
It was smooth sailing for me also to work with them and the photographer they had booked, Zibi. Zibi is a destination wedding photographer based in Wiltshire and had driven down early doors that morning for bridal preparations, but was still full of beans after the first dance. Zibi and I worked well together which is a blessing because the relationship between a wedding photographer and a videographer can sometimes be competitive, but I think we had a mutual respect for each other on the day and I would love to work with Zibi again.
Marijke and the gang at East Soar Farm were a pleasure too, so helpful and kept making sure Zibi and I were ok and had everything we needed. Even when I somehow managed to stab myself in the foot with a discarded wooden kebab stick! Marijke was straight on hand checking I was ok with sympathy and plasters.
Over all, it was a very enjoyable day for all. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to hang out with amazing people, surrounded my beautiful things and scenery, and call it work.
I believe in my videos for Nat & Jon that I have done their day justice. I'm proud of what I've captured for them and hope that they enjoy my videos for years to come. I feel that I've captured the essence of the day, which was fun, laughter and all the colour.
I truly hope that I can work with this bunch of fabulous people again sometime.
They make my 'job' fun.
